The Junkers Ju 188 A-1 and E-1 were German twin-engine bombers developed during World War II as advanced variants of the earlier Ju 88. The A-1, powered by two Jumo 213A engines, was designed for high-speed bombing missions, while the E-1 variant, equipped with BMW 801 G-2 radial engines, was intended for medium-altitude operations. Both models featured improved aerodynamics, including a redesigned fuselage and wings, and were equipped with enhanced defensive armament. The Ju 188 entered service in 1943, serving primarily in the Luftwaffe’s Kampfgeschwader units until the end of the war.
