The AH-64D Apache Longbow is an advanced version of the AH-64A Apache, an all-weather attack helicopter developed and adopted in accordance with the U.S. Army’s Advanced Attack Helicopter (AAH) program.
The radar-equipped version was called the AH-64D Apache Longbow, while the radar-less version was called the AH-64C. However, at the end of 1993, the AH-64C designation was abolished, and all versions came to be called the AH-64D Apache Longbow, regardless of whether they were equipped with radar or not.
